Serge Severe – Strong Coffee

Like a adrenaline shot injected straight to your headphones, Portland’s Serge Severe’s ‘Strong Coffee’ stimulates the broken heart of hip hop and gets heads bopping. Aided by the production of 5th Sequence, this beat’s heavy jam takes you back to a time before the infiltration if the culture vultures, when hip hop was music for the people, not the corporations.

“I treat beats like a empty house/and I furnish them”

Flow is a much forgotten art in hip  hop and lack of respect for metaphor has cheapened the content, but Severe has both in spades. By song’s end the love of the complex mistress that is hip hop is rejuvenated. Ignore the naysayers who dismiss this as mere nostalgia. This is a modern version of an abandoned bloodline and folks have been waiting for its return.  You’d be a fool to not peep his latest ‘ EP ‘Boom – Bap & Bars Vol 1’. Find it on-line and plug-in.
